Our Oil Plus 2C has been one of the most versatile wood oils for many years now. You can apply it to floors, furniture, stairs… And our oil is also ideal for worktops and other surfaces where food is involved. Oil Plus 2C is now declared to be used in contact with food. The same goes for the combination of Oil Plus 2C and our Universal Maintenance Oil / our Universal Maintenance Oil 2 Mix. But what does that mean?
Eurofins has tested Oil Plus 2C according to underlying specification of European Framework Regulation 1935/2004 for Food Contact Materials, and the test results show that Oil Plus 2C is in full compliance, when applied to a wooden surface. They did the same for the combination of Oil Plus 2C and our Universal Maintenance Oil / our Universal Maintenance Oil 2 Mix and got the same results.
It is therefore safe to use Oil Plus 2C (A+B) or the combination of Oil Plus 2C and our Universal Maintenance Oil / our Universal Maintenance Oil 2 Mix on a wooden surface that is in itself food safe. Therefore we are in compliance with regulation EC n° 1935/2004. This declaration is the result of an official test, done by Eurofins, an official independent testing institute.
In practice, this means that cutting boards, kitchen worktops, tabletops, etc. that have been treated with Oil Plus 2C and/or Universal Maintenance Oil / Universal Maintenance Oil 2 Mix are also safe for household use, which becomes more and more a recommendation for a lot of projects.
